Water Audit Service
The Ministry of Jal Shakti issued ‘Guidelines to control and regulate ground water extraction in India’ vide notification number S.O. 3289(E) dated 24th September 2020, and subsequent amendment dated 29th March 2023, notified by Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti.

Significance of Water Audit
Managing and conserving water resources is vital for a sustainable future.
A Water Audit helps address critical challenges related to water use, conservation and efficiency.
Three Pillars of Water Audit

Compliance Management

Cost Management

Climate Management

- With an annual groundwater extraction of 241.34 billion cubic meters (dec 2023), India consumes more than a quarter of world’s total ground water consumption.
- As per NITI Aayog report (CWMI), the water demand will exceed the supply by 2050. About 40% of India’s population possibly would have no access to drinking water by 2030.
- India is one among 20 countries facing extremely high water stress, according to a report by the World Resources Institute.
- Very high industrial consumption and discharge in water bodies rendering inaccessibility of local water bodies.
- Need of water treatment in industries for reuse and Lack of RWH adoption and ground aquifer recharge.
